Lofting Wires

In this short tutorial, Matas Ubarevičius walks you through the most important aspects of the loft command in Rete editor, which generates free-form surfaces from multiple wires. This powerful algorithm allows you to create smooth, complex geometry quickly.

Matas demonstrates several corner cases to highlight the command’s limitations and various options. You'll work with different cross-section shapes—starting with ellipses and moving on to rounded star shapes. An important requirement is that the wires must contain the same number of edges for the loft to generate a correct and visually appealing result.

Additionally, you'll learn how to convert the lofted surfaces into solid objects. By the end of this tutorial, you'll have a solid understanding of how to use the loft command effectively in your 3D modeling workflow.
