Decompose Solid

In this tutorial, we’ll take a reverse approach to understanding OCCT (OpenCascade) solid composition by breaking it down into its core components. Sometimes the best way to learn how things are created is by decomposing them into consistent parts.

Instead of building a solid, we’ll disassemble it into faces, break the faces down into wires, and finally, reduce the wires into edges. This process will give you a deep understanding of OCCT's solid structure, making it easier to create and manipulate 3D models in the future.

Matas Ubarevicius will guide you step by step, explaining which components to use for each stage of decomposition. You’ll also get hands-on with the Rete visual programming editor, which is perfect for parametric design. If you want to follow along, the script used in the video is available under the public projects section of the bitbybit.dev platform.

Whether you’re a beginner or looking to deepen your knowledge of OpenCascade, this tutorial will help you master the basics of solid decomposition in 3D modeling.
